Capreolus capreolus, Roe Deer, Rådyr. 110cm.

Roe Deer
They are unusual residents of the lower forested valleys surrounding the massif near the cultivated areas.

They sometimes succumb to harsh winters, to which they are not as well adapted as red deer.

They are selective in their diet and choose the best morsels. These include young leaves, herbs, grasses, heather, berry bushes, fungi and shoots depending on the season. They are usually solitary and territorial. The sexes are similar but the male larger.

They can live for up to 10 years.
