A very common mat forming shrub. It is the world's smallest tree at only 2cm! It grows throughout the mountains up to 1800m.
They are found in carpets appearing once the snow has melted. Propagates either by a creeping rhizome root sending up aerial shoots or by seeds from ripened 1cm catkins.
The leaves are kidney shaped, toothed and a shiny green both sides.
