Salix hastata, Halberd-leaved Willow, Bleikvier. 1m.

Halberd-leaved Willow
A small bush with thin serrated leaves, which are paler on the underside. Leaves have a hint of red.

It is found in wet locations with aluvian soils, such as beside gravelly mountain streams up to 1250m.

They are dioecious and the catkins appear in June after the leaves emerge. The catkins are 3-5cm and erect. They are pollinated by insects, and the downy seeds are wind dispersed in August.
