Salix lanata, Woolly Willow, Ullvier. 1m.

Woolly Willow
Unsual in damp locations, up to 1200m.

The buds, shoots and oval 5cm leaves are covered in yellowish, silky hairs, but the upper side of the leaf loses these in the summer.

The catkins appear before the leaves and are yellow and thick. The bushes are dioecious, the flowers insect pollinated and the seeds wind dispersed.

The bushes are similar to and confused with downy and glaucous willows.
