Scandinavian Mountains over 2000 metres - James Baxter
Areas › Galdhøpiggen Massif › Skardstind › Alternative Routes
There are a few different routes up Skardstind. The majority of them are variations of a scramble up the steep south side up to the saddle between Skardstind itself and the remarkable Nåla, a spire at the south east end of the summit ridge. All these routes, however, mean traversing across steep unstable scree/slab slopes which are hazardous, especially, if there are other climbing parties above. Consequently I have not described them as alternatives, even if some of them may be easier than the classic approach up the west ridge.
