There are a number of differing routes up Store Bukkeholstind. The easiest is from Tverrbotn Lake 1540 metres directly north for one km into a hanging valley and then up the south west ridge. This is the route described in detail below. A number of alternatives are also possible.
It is possible to go the entire Bukkeholstindane ridge from Bukkeho 2314m to Bukkeholstind 2058m, or vice versa during a long summers day. This tour starts/finishes at Gietsaetri in Leirdalen and finishes/starts at Leirvassbu. For the ascent/descent of Bukkehøi see the Bukkehøi page.
