Map Lichen
Very common yellow/green lichen found everywhere in the mountains.

It is normally in colonies which often merge, separated by a black band. Once rock has been exposed by a glacier it takes about 20 years to become established and then grows at a rate of 1mm each year.

Scientists can therefore use it to measure glacial changes since the mini-ice age 250 years ago.
