Umbilicaria (Various species), Rock Tripe, Navlelav.
These lichen are very common on boulders and rock faces throughout the mountains.
When the weather is dry they are crispy and increase friction. When wet however they become very slippery and can make the rocks as lethal as verglass.
They grow in very exposed environments and are attached to the rock in the centre of their 3-5cm structure.
A foliose lichen.
